Familiar Scripture. Older names restored.

Read the text with
the names in view.

Bible with Original Names is a focused mobile reader built around The Way Version. It keeps older source-language names visible—Yeshua, YHWH, Elohim, Ruach, Shimon, Yochanan and others—so readers can encounter familiar passages with more of their linguistic setting intact.

What changes when the names return?

Small wording choices can change how a passage feels.

This app is intentionally simple: read Scripture, notice the restored names and keep going. You do not need to know Hebrew, Aramaic or Greek to see that the people and divine names in the text came from a world before English.

Familiar English form

“Jesus said to Simon…”

Yeshua said to Shimon…”

Jesus → Yeshua LORD → YHWH God → Elohim Spirit → Ruach James → Ya'akov John → Yochanan Simon → Shimon

Based on The Way Version

More of the original texture, without making the reading harder.

The Way Version revisits biblical language through early textual sources and translation history, with particular attention to names, source-language details and meanings that can become invisible in familiar English.

  • Read with names such as Yeshua, YHWH, Elohim, Ruach, Ya'akov, Yochanan and Shimon retained in the text.
  • Keep the experience centered on reading rather than interrupting every verse with commentary.
  • See wording in a contemporary layout designed for phones and everyday reading.
  • Explore the wider translation project and methodology at TheWayVersion.com when you want deeper context.

Transliteration and translation involve scholarly choices, and different traditions may represent ancient names differently. The app presents the editorial choices used by The Way Version.
